social skills

Difficulty with social situations and problems making friends are not uncommon among children, and are a hallmark of a child with an autism spectrum disorder. In order to meet your family and child’s needs in all situations, IN S.T.E.P.P.S. offers a naturalistic and fun approach to teach social skills embedded in children’s games and activities. Our social skills programs use ABA and PRT strategies, and incorporate data collection toward individualized, measurable goals to facilitate your child’s social success.

We offer clinic-based weekly groups at our office after school and on weekends. Our Groups are small to allow for intensive learning. Participants have individualized goals targeted through fun activities centered around a weekly theme. Please contact us for information.

IN S.T.E.P.P.S. offers support during your play dates with a friend or small group of friends. Focus is placed on fluent use of skills and problem solving skills such as negotiating and compromising. Collaboration and social interaction are promoted through the use of cooperative arrangements and ABA strategies.
